how to play eyedrop
Eyedrop is a free color memory game. You see a color for a few seconds, then rebuild it from memory with three sliders. Five colors per game, each scored from 0 to 100%, and your final score is the average.
- Start a game. You get five colors, one after another.
- Memorize the color while the countdown runs. Three seconds on normal, five on easy, one and a half on hard.
- Rebuild it with the sliders. Hue picks the color family, pop sets how vivid it is, light sets how bright it is.
- Lock it in. We compare your color with the original using CIEDE2000, a standard measure of how different two colors look to people, and score it from 0 to 100%.
- After five rounds you get your average, every round side by side, and a dare link that sends a friend the exact same colors.
Keyboard: Tab moves between sliders, arrow keys nudge them (hold Shift for bigger steps), Enter locks in your color and moves on, and Esc goes back to the menu.
tips
- Name the color in your head while you look at it, like "dusty teal, quite dark". Words last longer in memory than pictures do.
- Get the hue right first. It usually costs the most points when it is off.
- Brightness is where points quietly disappear. Colors tend to feel brighter in memory than they really were.
- On a phone, keep your screen brightness steady between games so your eyes calibrate the same way.
faq
How is eyedrop scored?
Each round compares your color with the target using the CIEDE2000 color difference. A perfect match scores 100%, a difference you would barely notice still scores above 90%, and a clearly different color scores under 50%.
Can I challenge a friend?
Yes. After a solo game, tap dare a friend. The link replays your exact five colors so you can compare totals.
Do I need an account?
No. Your best scores are saved in this browser on this device.
Is it fair if I'm colorblind?
Some rounds will be harder, especially reds and greens. Every result shows hue, saturation and brightness as numbers, so you can learn where your eyes drift.
